Introducing our new collection of hand built cats made from terracotta, a type of earthenware clay with a distinctive orange-reddish-brown colour.
Each of our terracotta cats is individually crafted to create a unique and striking feature for your home.
Terracotta - A Centuries Old Art
Known for its characteristic orange-reddish-brown colour, terracotta is most commonly seen in roofing tiles and garden plant pots. The word "terracotta", or “terra-cocta” in Latin, means "baked earth". The colour is derived from the iron content in the clay, which is particularly evident after firing.
Terracotta has been used for thousands of years with examples of art and sculpture from Asia, the Middle East, India, China, Africa, and Europe. The Terracotta Army, a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China, is a fine example of the intricate and durable work that can be produced. Our cats continue the tradition of using terracotta for decoration.

Terracotta Cats - Individually Hand Made
We model and build our terracotta cats by hand using specially selected natural clays to achieve a beautiful lasting finish. A time consuming process that can't be rushed.
We begin by moulding the basic body shape which is then sculpted and finer details added to bring the cat to life.
Only when we are satisfied, is the clay allowed to dry slowly in carefully controlled conditions before being loaded into our custom built kiln. The cats are fired to a higher than usual temperature for terracotta. This gives our cats extra durability for a life outdoors. Ideal for your garden, patio, wall, or roof.
Our cats are named to suit their characters, the name is stamped on the base along with their birthday!

They are individually, hand built from natural materials, each one is unique and can't be replicated in every detail so slight variations are to be expected.
